May Day

This first day of May has been a very good day. I picked up the next set of blocks in my Be There or Be Square BOM and ordered the finishing kit for it. I also picked up a square to fix April's 9" block.

Then we spent the day at Dee's with Billie, Brian, Renee, Dee, Brian's mom, his 2 sisters and their husbands, and Niki and her 2 friends. Oh, and my ex and his wife came with Sammie. The BarBQue was excellent as was the company for the most part. The things you can learn if you keep quiet and smile!

I began handwork on skulls binding. I am proud of myself: I went to QC and did not buy any fabric although I did see a kit I wanted. I came to this tuperware party and only bought for $ 30. All and all I didn't spend much money.

Now I am getting ready to continue sewing and just rest. Last night and this morning I was not feeling well again with the hitch in my left side(gall bladder) and my legs are swollen. I am glad that doctor appointment is soon.

Tomorrow is Sunday so Lator, Gators. Have a blessed night and a fantastic Sunday.

Last Friday of the Month

So far today has been a very productive day.
I have completed:
Goal 1 - Piece 7 Autumn Leaves blocks. Actually I did 9. That felt very good.

Goal 3 - Bind charity quilts for Haiti - is done.

Goal 4 -Complete Be There or Be Square 12" block - is also done.

Goal 5 - Complete 9" and 6" blocks for Be There or Be Square - is in limbo since I cut quarters when I should have cut halves. I did complete the 6" and will try to get another piece of fabric so I can work on 9" Saturday or Sunday or Monday.

Goal 2 - Bind skull quilt- binding is sewn on to the quilt ready for me to hand finish it this weekend.

So I didn't do too badly with my goals. Monday, I can work on label and info squares which is embroidery.

As for stash report on Sunday, well, bought more fabric 8 yards and lots of fat quarters just cause. 2 steps forward and 1 step backwards - is the way I am traveling this week.

I will edit this post tonight late to show how I did on goals 3 and 2. SoLator Gators...have a blessed Friday and a great weekend if I don't get back until Sunday night

Thankful Thursday

Today I sewed 2 Autumn Leaves blocks so I now have 5 of my 7 for the week done. I forgot when I made my goals that I had plans for 4 of the 7 days of this week - Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday so I won't be able to complete all my goals this week but they can carry over to next week.

I made the dumbest mistake today...I was cutting for the Be There or Be Square 9" block and I misread the directions and cut quarter square triangle instead of half square triangles. I completed the 12" and 6" blocks but can't complete the 9" until I find a piece to replace what I miscut.

For lunch today Dee and I met at BQ and looked at fabric. So much for busting my stash - I finally found a fabric that has pink in it that I liked so I just had to buy it and the pieces that went with it but no other pink. (8 yards) I also bought more fat quarters for the BQ squares with UL and Saints info on them and some veggie prints fats that have been begging to come home with me each time I go.

Tonight I got to break bread for supper with my oldest and youngest daughters and 3 of my grandchildren. It was a very pleasant time.

Well Gators, tomorrow is another day and I have lots to do...put binding on charity quilts for Haiti and binding on skulls quilt. So have a blessed evening and may you find serenity.

Wayward Goals

Oh, the plans I had for Wednesday....sew, blood work, shopping for detergent and fruit, a leisurely lunch with Pape, and then sew & bind til supper. I would get ahead of my goals for the week and be able to enjoy Saturday and Sunday with Dee and Billie.

Oh, how goals flew out the window. I managed to sew before we went for the blood work but no where in my plans did I figure for Dee and Pape getting together. All plans but the blood work and shopping went out the door when Dee called Pape to remind him about Micah's track meet in Welsh. So off to find Welsh we went with grapes and bananas as substance til we found that track meet. No sewing, no completing goals, no thought for either.

I won't say it wasn't fun sitting under the bleachers with Pape, Dee, and Ms. Helen waiting for Micah to compete b/c it was fun. We were surrounded by high school teenagers some polite and some who needed reins. Rock throwing and light cursing seemed to be the theme for the Bell City track members. Although not all were bad, since one really sweet girl loaned me a clip so I could start binding on Dee's quilt.

Oh, yes! I did get to sew binding on a quilt...Dee's LSU quilt. I love doing binding - any binding.

After the track meet, Pape and I went to Kinder for sandwiches, gumbo, soup, and casino hour. Then home to find internet on the blink. Ugh.

Only 2 squares made on Autumn Leaves quilt and the organization for the 9" Be There or Be Square blocks were done.

All in all it was a great relaxing day...no sign of CRAZY lady but I have a feeling she is lurking in the shadows.

Today's plans are lunch with Dee, home to plant squash, zucinni, and cucumbers. Then sew on binding for charity quilts and supper with Dee. If time, I plan on squaring up Skulls and sewing at least one AL block.

Lator gators. Have a blessed day and may your goals be completed or may they go wayward in a pleasant way.

Adventurous Tuesday

So far so good...I have completed my 12" BOM for Be There or Be Square (Goal 4) and pieced 1 Autumn Leaves block (Cut out 3 to use with triangle paper).

Today was an excellent day even though I didn't get to sew. The guild meeting was great and Judy and I had an adventure trying to find Gueydan. There is a bridge on the way that is a hoot. It is a patoon bridge that goes up and down with the water level. The water level was definitely down as was the bridge. You saw the side you were on and the other side but NO middle until you came to the edge. Needless to say, we didn't go back that way.

We had lunch at a nice place and then went across the street only to find that we were a day early for the exhibit...only open Wednesday - Saturday. So we drove back a different way. Thank goodness that Judy kinda knew the way to go down Hwy. 14 b/c I was lost from the minute she turned off Interstate 10. LOL

When we got back, it was too early for the night meeting and too late for me to drive back to Lewisburg, so I went take a nap at daughter's. It was a very peaceful nap almost too long.

After the meeting, I came home and Pape told me there has been no sign of the CRAZY renter lady all day. I guess that our CRAZY daughter and the constable and sheriff scared her off for the time being. Tomorrow we will padlock the doors and daughter will start the cleaning. It will take lots of problem solving to get it in shape again.

Wednesday, Pape and I have to go get blood work done for different reasons and doctors. Then I plan on spending the day working on binding the Haiti quilts and the skulls quilt. I also have to plant my squash , zuccini and cucumber plants in the back yard.

Well, gator I will see you lator. May you have a blessed evening a great tomorrow.

Design Wall Monday

My design wall is the same as last week. I spent all week either feeling like a pooped turkey or turkey poop.

Monday I sewed on my Autumn Leaves blocks. I now need to cut more blocks and try to devised a plan for those that are cut but can't be completed. Those 2 square she left off are causing me to have to problem solve.

Tuesday & Wednesday: I quilted the skulls quilt. It was an experience that taught me much. 1st: Bigger is not better. I have a midarm that while the quilting area is not as big, it quilts much the same way. 2nd: To get great quilting, you have to be a great quilter. To be a great quilter, you have to practice and practice.

Thursday: I started feeling like turkey. I made 1 AL block. I spent the day watching my granddaugter and friend fix bikes. Then spent the evening with daughter.

Friday, Saturday, Sunday,& today: We traveled to Abita Springs where I spent most of my time sleeping and listening to music or watching ducks & geese. I only have one complaint: those geese get up too dang early and honk too loudly.

So no sewing except for a few scattered AL blocks have been done. But I no longer feel like a turkey.
Lator gators...have a productive day and a blessed week.

The weather calmed down and turned warm and beautiful. I am feeling much, much better. The girls and Pape have provided enough of the best medicine - laughter.
