Thoughtful Thursday

Today has been an interesting day. This morning I was really in the groove. I did all but one of the ULL labels/blocks. Instead of doing them in 10/12" only, I did 4" and 6" and 8" sizes. They all came out rather well. The only one I have left in that set is "Ragin' Cajun" and then I have to do the set for the Saints. I am working on my prices but think they will be $2, $3, $4, & $5.

My oldest called and gave me double bad news: My favorite LQS is closing for health reasons. This makes me sad because the two ladies that ran the shop have become special to me. I hate thinking that they are too ill to do what they love and they did love their shop. I would drive over 70 miles because of the atmosphere of their shop. I will miss going there and visiting with them. So sad. My stash will blow up since they are putting fabric on sale at 50% off and there are a few pieces I have been eyeing for a while.

After that my husband and I went to Lafayette to bring my third daughter's computer to the geeks. I hoped that it was only the power supply but the mother board was fried. So I had them transfer her data to an external hard drive. She can pick out a new computer when she goes pick up the drive.

My husband and I went to Olive Garden and had a wonderful lunch...soup for him and salad for me. We talked about things going on in our life and the things that were coming up on Friday and Saturday.

When we got home, I went take a nap so that I can be ready for my "walk/HIKE" with Spirit and the crew. The new scale Pape bought last night does not show a reduction compared to the doctor's scale. I am not giving up because I know that my calories in have been decreased while my calories out have been enormously increased. After all, muscle weighs more than fat even though it takes less room. My clothes are fitting better so I will not even worry about the scale yet. LOL

Well, time to go awalkin', Lator, Gators.

Walking Wednesday

Well, I am off to a great start this week. I paper pieced the next 7 Autumn Leaves blocks to have ready when I am finish with the labels/blocks for BQ. I have finished both pillowcases...Pink Ladies Bathing and LSU Tiger faces for Kim. I also made both labels for the graduation quilts.
Instead of telling my grandchildren "I love You" all the time...I say "Circle never ending always growing and you will always fit in that circle never ending always growing..." or just "Circle!" The Baby Lock let me embroider just that saying as the border for the label. I am so proud of myself!!!

I also played with the charm pack I was given at the guild meeting. I am thinking about making a pillow out of the results. We always need pillows and I don't have but the one charm pack. Good solution to preventing another UFO.

The walking is going really well. I didn't walk Monday but bowled instead. Tuesday, Renee' and Spirit had pity on me and we only walked 1 mile. Today, the pity was gone! We walked almost 3 miles at a very nice pace both coming and going. I started sweating and by the time we made it back to the house I was wet from head to toe.

Billie, Bryan, and Lexie joined us. Like a fool, I thought that they would slow Spirit and Renee' down a bit since my side and arse are still not in perfect shape. My side didn't hurt coming or going but I won't say the same for my raw b...Tomorrow Billie and company are coming back and this time they want to do a 3 mile hike in less than 30 minutes.

In 3 months I will either be healthier or in the hospital. The eating plan is not expected to work by either the doctor or me, but I think with this extreme exercise added...it should do the trick. Then I will have to continue the exercise which I really don't mind.

I am grousing because I haven't really walked for exercise in about 3 years and it is taking its tole. Before I stopped, I could walk 5 miles in 45 minutes without getting very damp and did it 6 times a week. Now I can't do 2 miles in 45 minutes comfortably and I am upset with myself!!! But I am determined to get better...maybe and probably not as good as I once did but better than last week's showing. LOL. Heaven knows I have some good coaches who don't listen to my grousing!

I did get good news today...the eye specialist said that the holes and bleeding have not gotten worse. I just have to keep a check on my vision for the next year and then go back for a check up. I could stand not walking or talking and I can even bear quite a lot of pain but losing my eyesight is just about the worse thing I could imagine...no sunsets or sun rises, no computer blogs, no granddaughter and grandson smiles, no Pape grin, no bubbles, no quilting...I don't think I would be able to adjust to that.

Tomorrow, I plan on working on the ULL and Saints label/blocks for BQ my LQS. I also need to take Billie's computer to the geeks for fixing. That is something else I no longer even attempt to do as well as I did before. The younger generation is much better at problem solving computer troubles.

Friday, we are leaving early to go to Walker for Gavin's graduation and then Kim's that night. I know we will make Gavin's but I am not sure about Kim's. Saturday we are bring Kristin to work in BR and who knows where we will be on Sunday.

Well, gators until lator be safe and have a blessed week.

Design Wall Monday

Autumn Leaves, with the addition of the 8 new leaves from this week, has become too big for the design wall. So no picture of Autumn Leaves until I put up my new larger design wall.

I did work on the BOM 9" block from April and for the second time, I goofed. I will go back to quilt shop and get more scraps so I can complete it. I am determined to do that!!

I did complete the 6"BOM for May and will be working on the 9 and 12 inch blocks this week hopefully.

The graduation pillowcase came out so pretty even if I don't like pink. I think that Kim will like it. Later today I will work on the LSU pillowcase for her. )I finished it before going bowling.)

I did play with a 4 patch design which I love but I don't know what to do with it except make a pillow from it. All I had was one Charm pack (Spring Fever by Me & My Sister Designs for moda) which was given to me.

Goals for this week: (I always plan for more than I really do. This week I have to do 1&2 before Friday. Then while I have embroider machine up, I will complete 3. The rest who knows!)
1) Complete LSU pillowcase for Kim.(Done today)
2) Complete label for Gavin's quilt. Add label for Kim's quilt.
3) Complete label/blocks for ULL & Saints.
4) Complete President's block.
5) Complete 12" block for Be There or Be Square BOM for May.
6) Iron on fleece for Tanya's purse.
7) Complete 9" BOM for May.
8) Complete 9" BOM for April.
9) Complete 7 Autumn Leaves blocks.
10) Walk 10 miles this week with Spirit's help!

Stash Report

Happy Mother's Day to all the mothers in the world. May your day be blessed and your children be well.

This week has been hectic and my sewing room has not seen much of me. My doctor put me on a special eating plan (old WW diet) and my grandchild, Spirit, has taken over my increased exercise plan. We walk 1 mile in 15 minutes and a second mile in 13 minutes or Spirit says "Walk Faster, Geema. Walk Faster! Too Slow!" I think walking 2 miles in under 30 minutes is pretty good for someone who is 90 pounds overweight and hasn't walked in over 2 years. Warning: Don't let a 5 almost 6 year old be the boss of exercise.

Stash Report is dismal. There has been no change since last week although I did work on 3 things this week. They are not finished so don't count...boy, when I finish them I will have a big reduction!

Report:
Used this week: 0 yards
Used YTD: 9.5 yards
Added this week: 0 yards
Added YTD: 22.25 yards
Net stash buster: -12.75 yards

Have a blessed week.
