Fitful Friday

The Blue/blahs are beginning to subside. I still haven't felt the urge to piece or quilt anything but that to will pass since I am still cutting 2" strips for my rug.

I set goals for this week and so far I have completed 1 of them. In fact I walked 14 miles instead of the 10 that I expected to walk. Two pounds came off which upset me at first but then I remembered that losing weight is hard for people with thyroid problems so two pounds was great.

I have not gotten to the Saints blocks b/c I just don't want to play with my machine just yet.

The blahs/blues are still lingering but almost gone so by Sunday they should be conquered.

So now off I go to find the t-shirts that I have saved for this class on Saturday.

Blahs Beware!

I am still trying to handle my blahs/blues.

I started the day by reading the design walls on Judy's blog. Then I went into the sewing room and cut 2" strips from fabric that quit speaking to me. Two large bins became 1 with room to spare and the bottom of the strip bin is full. It is one way to use up fabric in a hurry!

Then I went to Lafayette and tended to guild bank business. The company was interesting and the visit pleasant. After the bank business was done, I went meet my eldest daughter at BQ. There she picked out fabric for her secret pal's quilt and a border for her charity quilt. I watched and fondled fabric but nothing broke thru the blah/blues. Then I saw a book that also used 2" strips and a break in the blah/blue haze happened. I bought the book and some walnut shells for my pin cushion.

After that, I went buy a baked potato and soup for myself and a loaded potato for Dee. We ate them while she worked on invoices. Then I went to the church and waited for the other board members to arrive. That was a long meeting with lots of rehashing of old issues.

Nuu needed fruit trays so I went to the store and bought them on the way home. I decided that I was taking a break from walking and sat and talked with my husband and watched my grandchildren play. Soothing to the soul even if they are hardheaded brats. LOL

When they left, Pape and I came in and started supper. He had started cooking some chicken for me so I make a veggie meldey to go with it. Computer time for both of us came next and now it is bedtime.

The blahs/blues have been broken but not expelled but a light is shining again where there was only darkness.

Blue Tuesday

The Blahs have turned into the Blues! I still haven't figured out why but this feeling is getting more intense and I don't like it!!!

I should be happy as a lark with all the great things and people in my life at this time but still can't shake the blues. I am tired and achy and that may be the reason for the blah/blues or it may be a symptom. Either way this is not the way I want to feel. Only other reason I can think of is that after two weeks of eating correctly and exercising properly, my body is trying my resolve. In that case, all I have to remember is if I don't then I will have a medicine cabinet of meds to take every day and that is a bummer for a person who hates to take meds.

Well, I am going to go cut fabric for a window frame weaving project and then go to Laf.

Lator gators!

Design Wall Monday

Did you ever feel just like not doing anything?

This feeling came over me all of a sudden and truthfully that is what I feel like--doing absolutely nothing structured or planned. I think I am going to take a break from sewing & quilting. So there is NOTHING on design wall b/c everything went in shoeboxes. The only things up are the Be There or Be Square blocks on the door and I get sad every time I look at them. (The shop is closing this week. See Stash Report.)
Goals for this week:
1) Collect t-shirts, interfacing, fabric, and needed supplies for class on Saturday.
2) Walk at least 10 miles this week. Route is 2.5 miles so only need to walk for 4 days to achieve goal. Secondary goal is take about 2 minutes off the time until walking at/under 30 minutes then on to 3.5/4.5 mile route.
3)
Get rid of blahs.
4) Finish Saints labels/blocks for BQ.

Stash Report

Woe is me!!!
My favorite quilt shop is closing. It is not so much the loss of a place to get fabric as the loss of visiting with people that I really like. It was a place where my oldest daughter and I could meet and discuss a passion that we have reconnected with. I can't replace it and I am sad for the loss but knowing the reason it is closing, I am happy for the owners. Owning a shop takes 28/9 of your time which leaves no time for family or quilting.

I visited the shop first on Friday and bought 28.8 yds. Then I went again on Saturday and bought 26.2 yds. These were not just to shop trips since on Friday, my beloved grandson graduated and on Saturday, my granddaughter needed a ride to BR for work.

So this is my dismal Stash Report:
Used This Week: 3 yds

Used YTD: 12.5 yds

Added This Week: 55 yds

Added YTD: 77.5 yds

Net 2010: -65 yds

My DH has laid down the law. (giggle) He says that I can not buy any more fabric until he gets a quilt or two. But I have a plan!!! Two years ago at Houston I bought a window fabric weaving frame. I am going to go through each color bin that I have and cut the fabrics that I don't have plan for into 1 fat quarter and 2" strips. The fat quarters will be saved in a smaller bin and the strips will be used to make a rug for my camper. When I cut the strips and put them into the rug box, I will also count them as used. That is the first way and the second is to work on secret pal quilt and charity quilts.
Well, off to get a computer. Lator, gators.
