UFO Challenge and Monochromatic Challenge

Tanya's Graduation Quilt
January is the month that I work on Tanya's Graduation Quilt which didn't get finished in 2010.
Judy L picked yellow as the color for January which is not one of the abundant colors in my stash. I do have a few scraps and the project doesn't have to be that big. So I am going to make a mug rug or a potato bag or a placemat. It depends on how much yellow I can find since I won't be buying fabric. (wonder how much DD#1 has). My "little effort or thought" box  is broken for sure now!
CA Mystery #3

The UFO number has been picked and it is #6. On my list #6 is Charlotte Angotti Mystery #3 which is a wonderful green toned piece that is a pleasure to piece. Well, I hope to see your name on Judy L's Stash Report list Sunday and Design Wall on Monday.
May your week be blessed and productive.

Lator Gators! 2011 - the Stress Free Year!
oops! lost directions for CA Mystery #3 and neither of my quilting partners have this mystery.
Ask and you shall receive...It is truly a STRESS FREE year. I emailed Charlotte Angotti and she sent me the directions.
First block of January UFO/PhD only 19 more!

Reflections on 2010

Goals for 2011:
To use time wisely and make every minute with my DH count.
To use my money wisely and not spend/loan without looking to future needs.
To see the good no matter what is happening.
To find my bliss within and outside of the sewing studio.
To spread joy to those who need it.
To keep my opinion silent even when asked for it unless it is about fabric or quilts.
To remove myself physically and mentally from those who would destroy my bliss because they haven't found theirs.
To become physically stronger and healthier by walking and eating my veggies.

Well, 2010 is almost over.  In about 4 hours, it will be 2011. I don't know what the year will bring. I hope that it brings more peace and acceptance within my family.  I hope that 2011 brings much happiness to my daughters, step-daughters, and step-son. All 7 deserve happiness but sometimes forget that happiness has to start from within not from others. This year has had lots of ups and downs like a dang roll-a-coaster. Sometimes it went up and down so fast that I couldn't keep a level head which caused problems. Although some say, I just like to start trouble b/c I am the original she-devil.LOL
I have spent/loaned out all my savings willingly and lovingly with promises from those who received to repay and hopefully that will happen in 2011 b/c it didn't in 2010. Until it does, I am on a very short leash financially, but plan on paying out as many bills as I have money to do as quickly as possible(which means more money for quilting and travel/camping). I have plenty of fabric and supplies to keep me happy sewing. All I will need is batting and I should be able to afford at least 3 batting purchases a month.
Another thing that I would like to happen is the sale of the land in New Iberia. That money is dedicated towards fixing a place on my farm in Lawtell for DH, Grandchildren, and myself. Yep, I am land poor as my granddad liked to say. But that land means so much to the future because of the past.
Hopefully 2011 will see a reduction in my DH girt and his kidney functions will stabilize. It scares me totally to know that he is extremely close to dialysis. His doctor feels that will happen within 2 years or sooner if things don't change. His blood sugars are up & down right now so hopefully that too will level out.
As for my health, well, hopefully I won't stress over things I can't control, which is just about everything, and the skin problems, thyroid functions, high blood pressure from weight, and arthritis bouts will level out. These are better as 2010 ends so I have high high hopes...apple pie in the sky hopes. Oops there goes another rubber tree plant.
Well, that is TMI but I needed to say it and only a few people will bother to read this so it was a good place to unload.
Lator Gators. May 2011 hold all you want. You control how you deal with the year. Deal with happiness, contentment, bliss, and love. May you look back on this next year with favor.

Thoughts for 2011

Goals for 2011:
To use time wisely and make every minute with my DH count.
To use my money wisely and not spend without thought.
To see the good no matter what is happening.
To find my bliss and not let others take me out of that zone. Life is too short to live life worrying about how others might view what you do or say.
To spread joy to those that need it.
To keep my opinion silent even when asked for it unless it is about fabric or quilts.

      Last Design Wall of 2010

      Design Wall:
On my design wall is my DD#2 graduation quilt which was due Dec. 18th. This was a camping quilt meaning that it traveled in our RV until December. Only problem is as you can see, we haven't been doing much camping. So this quilt reminds me that we haven't been camping and that my promise wasn't kept.

The second thing on my design wall is to sort and turn this pile into 2" by 5" strips for a Bonnie Hunter workshop at the end of January.

Well, time to sort and cut and sew. Oh, and clean my sewing studio since my best friend and a couple of others are joining me for a sew day on Wednesday if it is not cold and rainy.
Lator Gators, Have a blessed week. See you in 2011.

      Best Present

My second daughter took my old broken frame - It would open and flap-  put the frame back together, cleaned it, and then painted it black. Finally added gold highlights. Then she matted the picture and had a glass cut for it.
Didn't she do a fantastic job?
It makes me cry b/c I am so proud of my brother for making that print from an old photo and so proud of her for making it such a fantastic piece of art. That frame was found by my father, the man with the silly hat, in an old abandoned house. The picture was taken when I was 5 and my brother 3 and then reprinted by my brother as a teen. So the frame and original picture are over 55 years old and this copy is over 45 years old. It is very special to me!
She gave it back to me on Christmas Eve and was the best present in the world. A labor of love and time!
Lator Gators. I hope your memories are as strong and your children as loving as my daughter.

      Last Stash Report of 2010

      Stash Report
      Added this week:     0 yards
      Added YTD:      -184.417 yards
Used this week:     42.428 yards ( 9 pillowcases and 5 potato bags and 2 quilts)
      Used YTD:          171.013 yards
      Stash Reduction/Enhancement: -13.404 yards

I did better than I thought I would this year. Next year my goal is to be in the positive numbers and do some reduction like I did this week. Since everyone liked their pillowcases and potato bags, I may have to do that again. LOL
2011 is the year of UFOs for me. I have two goals for 2011: 1) for every quilt that leaves this house one will be staying; 2) each month an UFO/WIP will be completed starting with Tanya's graduation quilt. Some months will have two since I am joining Judy L's UFO challenge.
Have a great last week of the year.
      Lator Gators! Be blessed!
