Stash Report Sunday week 6 2011

Stash Report:
Fabric Added This Week:  3.25 yards
Fabric Added This Month: 3.25 yards
Fabric Added YTD:  9.06 yards
Fabric Used This Week:  1.765 yards
Fabric Used This Month: 1.765 yards
Fabric Used YTD: 9.06 yards
Reduction/Enhancement for Week 6: 0000000 yards
I was doing so good until my visit with DD at the BQ. There I bought 5 fat quarters that were on sale to use to try the Snail Trail block and the Spinning Star block. Then DD found 2 yards of coffee themed fabric that had to come home with me. It wasn't all bad since I gave Tanya's Graduation Quilt with backing to DD for quilting-all from my stash and the left over fabric stays with DD.
Reversible Table runner
Krotz Springs Lotto Block -Feb.
Spinning Star Mardi Gras
Spinning Star Valentines
This has been a busy week. I used the 5 fat quarters I bought to experiment with the directions for the Snail Trail blocks. It took 5 since I turned them into a reversible table runner that can be used year round and at Mardi Gras. Then I made 2 Mardi Gras Snail trails for Krotz Springs Guild swap.  2 Spinning Star blocks for my Block Swap partner were constructed (those won't get posted until she gets the blocks). After that I worked on putting sashing and a border around the Kat-Black & Red blocks finishing the quilt. I also pieced the backing and put it together to be delivered to DD on Tuesday.
Kats-Black & Red
This morning I am working on the binding of Spirit's Frog quilt, 12 lotto blocks for QGA & 1 for GSQA before I go bowling in the Louisiana State Women's Bowling Tournament Singles and Doubles. Saturday, we bowled team. Nope, I am not that good but our team has lots of fun. Yep, it was a very busy week.  This week, DD will be bring Palmetto (UFO #6) back so I will put the binding & label on it and count a big reduction. I also plan on working on a panel quilt as charity quilt, DJ's Graduation Quilt (UFO #3), KSG Mystery(UFO #b), and KSG Challenge(UFO #d). TGQ (UFO #a) and KBR (UFO #10) will be coming back sometimes in February for more reduction after they are bound and labeled. I really am on a production roll. It is amazing how much I can piece when I leave the quilting up to DD. LOL
Well, Lator Gators! May the fabric you need appear in your stash w/o a purchase.

Red Saturday

Red is one color that I have lots of in my stash thanks to my grandson's request for a red, gray, and black graduation quilt. He wanted no repeats in the pattern which meant 70 different fabrics in gray, black, and mostly red. His quilt has only 2 repeats b/c I wanted to finish and had all that was available locally.
Kats-Black & Red
My red quilt for this Saturday is Kats-Black & Red. The top is finished and the backing made. It leaves for the quilter on Tuesday.
This will be a charity quilt. I originally planned for it to go to an acquaintance that  tended to feral cats. She was going to raffle it off to help pay the vet bills. But she has been unavailable for months and so it will go to Bridge House in Denham Springs for a pre-teen girl.
May the fabric you need turn up in your stash w/o a purchase and KEEP 2011 STRESS FREE.

January Finishes

I think Judy L's got it right. At the end of each month, I too will try to post my finishes for the month. It is a great way to keep track of what I actually did do.
1) Palmetto - UFO #6 -it was a combination of cut pieces and blocks. I finish piecing it and sent it to DD#1 for quilting. She is almost finished with it but not quite.
2) Tanya's Graduation Quilt - UFO #a- it was also a combination of cut pieces and blocks. It is pieced with the backing and will go to DD#1 today.
3) Block Swap Block for Kirt - he asked for ART DECO. That block was lots of fun to design and construct.
4) Bee Block for Linda - That was also an interesting block since her colors are not my usual style. It took me a long time to see the block in the material. (No picture!)
5) Potato Bags - I made 6 and have 6 more to make. Now writing a tutorial for a friend.
6) BINDING for Donovan's quilt - My DD#1 made a string quilt-as-you-go. She gave it to me to do the bindings -more than 3 quilts. (No picture!)
7) Texas Braids -I took the Bonnie Hunter class for Texas Braids and made 2 braids which I promptly gave to DD#1.
Kats
When I look at it, January was a pretty productive month. February will be too since today I start binding quilts - 3 charity quilts; Spirit's Frogs; Orange Tom Cat; Saints' Star Season; and hopefully, Tanya's Graduation quilt and possibly Dottie's Blue&Yellow. In-between all the binding, I plan on working on UFO #10(Kats-Red & Black) Judy L's pick for February.

Design Wall Week 6 1-31-11

Design Wall:
GSQA Black&White
This is a hand-work week so there is nothing but lotto blocks up on my wall.
Mardi Gras Snail trail
Lotto blocks:
1) Snail trail in Mardi Gras colors (2)
2) Black & White Arrowhead block for GSQA
3) Secret Sister blocks for QGA (12)
4) Block Swap block - mystery to all

QGA Secret Sister
Bindings to complete:  (link to pictures)
1) Spirit's Frogs
2) Orange Tom Cat
3) Palmetto (hopefully back on Tuesday)
4) Saints' Star Season (border & binding)
My plan is to work on binding and when I get bored tired, I will work on the lotto blocks. That doesn't mean that it will be carried out but here's hoping.

Stash Report Sunday week 5 2011

Stash Report
Fabric Added this Week:    0        yards
Fabric Added YTD:          -5.81   yards
Fabric Used this Week:       0       yards
Fabric Used YTD:              7.295 yards
Net Reduced/Enhanced:   +1.485 yards

This has been a very busy week, but my sewing machine was quiet all week except for Saturday. Monday I worked on binding my grandson's quilt. Tuesday, guild meeting at 9am; lunch with Bonnie Hunter; shop time with BH at BQS; power nap; and second guild meeting from 6pm to 9pm. Wednesday, all day monitoring BH workshop and then drive BH to Baton Rouge and drive home again. Thursday, up early to bring DGD to school, work on binding, meeting with friend, pick up bowling equipment, bring computer to shop, and house work. Friday, finish binding, lunch and supper with DH, and more house work. Saturday, all day workshop as participant with BH. I made 2 long braids and gave them to DD#1. Why? B/C while lots of fun mindless sewing, it takes too many braids to make a quilt. I like blocks and scrappy is not really my thing. I like to control how things look. This technique might/will definitely be used in a border on one of my next quilt projects. Sunday, all day in bowling alley watching DH bowl.
I did finish binding on the back of the quilt for my grandson. Now DD#1 will put the binding on the edges.
DD#1 did not finish quilting Palmetto, UFO #6, so I didn't get to count it yet. I cut and ironed the binding for Spirit's Frogs and will be working on that this week. I also need to cut and iron binding for Orange Tom Cat and Palmetto so they can be bound too. Saints' Star Season also needs one more border and the binding done but may only get the binding. That depends on how I feel when I pick it up.  My grandsons' quilts need sewing around the edges so that they can tie them. So much to do that doesn't count against my stash!
Tomorrow I will be working on the last borders of Tanya's Graduation Quilt. It needs to be ready on Tuesday to go to DD#1 for quilting. Along with it will go all the fabric that is left. it is better in her stash than mine!!!
This week I plan to work on Lotto blocks that I have for 3 different guilds and to design and construct the swap block. I am looking for Mardi Gras fabric that does not have a dark background. I will also be spending lots of time hand sewing binding on the finished quilts.
Well, Lator Gators. May the fabric you need for all your projects find its way into your stash.
