Ami Simms Workshop

WOW! What a fantastic workshop!
Twisted Sisters w/ Ami Simms
Ann, Glen, Ami, Me, & Dottie (l to r)
If ever you can attend an Ami Simms lecture or workshop, GO! You will have so much fun that you will forget what you should be doing and may end up with hand-dyed underwear.

My Twisted Sisters Blocks
All my fabric came from stash so that makes me so very happy! The lights were from my K of Q secret sister and the others old stashdwellers. Hopefully, I will get enough blocks done for a top. As you can tell I had a blast!
Tomorrow, I have a 7am appt. with trainer in Church Point, 11:15 appt. with vet in Baton Rouge, 12 noon appt. with Glen at Hancocks, 3:45pm homework session with grandchildren in Lewisburg, and 6:30pm Toastmasters meeting in Lafayette although I may go to River City Quilt Guild meeting and DD#1's house instead of homework and Toastmasters.
Glen having fun!
Yes, Glen, there are days when I see myself coming & going. Then there are others that I am bored to pieces. LOL
Lator, Gators! May all the fabric you desire appear in your stash before you need it. Keep 2011 STRESS FREE! Stay Busy!

Mail

Everything is packaged and ready to mail. All Bee Blocks are caught up with and all swap blocks too except for August. Thank Goodness. I thought I would never get it all ready. But ready it is! Our local mailman looks at me like I am seriously nuts when I tell him it is just fabric. Oh, well, his is not to question what but to get it where it is going. LOL
I really love our mail people all joking aside!

Design Wall August 29, 2011

My design wall hasn't changed much from last week! I am slow as molasses in February or a turtle with a cracked shell. There is just so much to do that I get overwhelmed and do nothing.
Kristin's Purse
Last week I wanted to do 3 things and I accomplished one. I made a purse for my DGD#1's 21st birthday on Thursday. She loves big purses and is always asking for something. I still have to make her a potato bag. That will have to be done by Thursday so I need to get cracking.
Teal and brown
Wednesday, I am taking Ami Simms' Twisted Sisters class. I have pulled  dark brown for the background and a group of teal/blue/brown fqs from my secret sister.
Christmas Pillowcases

I found the perfect Christmas gift for my 2 of DGDs. I think I will give pillowcases to all the kids again this year or may give a mixture of pillowcases and towels. When you have 17 GC gifts to provide, it gets puzzling.
So this week I have three things to do: 1) Make Potato bag for DGD#1; 2) Make pillowcases for DGDs #3 & 4; 3) Sew on Twisted Sisters; 4) Work on Swap block for August. Not a bad agenda!

We spent the day at the bowling lanes located at Fort Polk. My husband is the oldest bowler on the team and the only one who bowled all 9 games. He was tired!
We decided that we have to spend money and get the motor home fixed. Right now the generator runs beautifully and the motor home purrs when plugged in but the two don't communicate with each other. That means no 'dry' camping for us b/c of the heat. This is a problem when we are out of town bowling all day b/c bowling lanes are usually cold and I can't stand being in a freezer all day. Yesterday, I went outside after the 4th game and sat in the car to warm up. There was a cool breeze blowing and that kept the sweat to a minimum. I stayed out until the temp hit 110 in the shade. If the motor home was fixed, I would have stayed inside and sewed all day happy as a bug in a rug.
After the bowling we drove to Kinder and stopped at the casino for food and football. We had grilled chicken strips, ribs, wings, potato boats, celery, and carrots. Or at least that is what was ordered. DH says the ribs and wings were excellent and I liked the potato boats and grilled chicken with celery & carrots. The Saints were winning 24 to 20 when we left and won the game 40 to 20. Great way to end a weekend!
Leeapaul is healing nicely but still has the big cast on. It is as big as he is although all this inactivity has caused him to gain weight. He is up to 7 pounds and is as round as a little ball.
Lorenzo is eating like a little horse and the only other problem we are having with him is that when Ama or any large dog comes around, he climbs up & sits on someone's head like a white parrot.
