Wicked

is "Very, extremely" or "Cool, great"
Warning: this post is Wickedly wordy!
First, I want to thank Madame Samm for arranging this blog hop. Secondly, I want to thank Wendy for taking charge and making it so much fun. A Very Special Thanks to Madame Samm and Wendy for allowing me to participate.
Starting with Halloween fabrics collected for the past 10+ years -a 14 gallon bag overflowing to be exact, this blog hop proved perfect way to reduce the overflow and almost empty the bag.

WICKED means "Very, extremely" or "cool, great"                                                                                                                                                                                                                ...per internetslang.com

This is the definition provided by our hostess, the Wicked Wendy from Why Knot Kwilt? and I totally agree!  For me a project that looks extremely hard but is exceptionally easy is totally WickedHope you find these to be Wicked!
First, for your wicked pleasure is the duffle bag made for my DGD#2. It is quilted with a zipper, multiple pockets, and spooky eyes inside!
Doesn't seem quite Wicked enough, does it?
How about the Messenger bag made to carry her laptop and college essentials - quilted, with zipper, embellishments, multiple pockets, and ruffles. Perfect for an October birthday girl who loves Halloween!
A bit more Wicked than the duffle.

            Done? Nope!
The Wickedness grows with a  12.5" scrappy block (click for tutorial)made with eighteen 2.5" by 4.5" rectangles. This came from a pattern drawing I received from Mama's Quilt Shop in Independence, Louisiana on this year's shop hop, a great shop with lots of wonderful people. I made 7 blocks as leaders & enders for 4 place-mats with applique and a piano topper for my resident witch.

                      Wickedly Easy!
Done? NOT!

Wish I had the name of this next block's designer, so I could give her proper credit and check see if her technique and my memory coincide.  But I have been unable to find the Simply Quilts episode or her name. If you know it, please let me know so proper credit can be given. Her design was a wall hanging about 24" square if memory serves. DGD#2 fell in love immediately and declared it was what she wanted for her graduation quilt. She wasn't even in Middle School yet!
Door Decoration
Witch's Brew mat
A 10.5" or even 12.5" or you could go bed size spider web block (click for tutorial) made using batting as the foundation. It is done using the log cabin method of rounds instead of the usual triangles. Now we are getting Wicked!
DGD#2's quilt
Center witch in bed
The larger the batting square, the larger the spider web. This can become a bed quilt easily as long as you can control the batting. This queen size one will be finished with neon green & purple pearl cotton hand quilting, then embellished with yo-yo spiders. Another reason I wish I could find that episode - my memory doesn't include how to construct the spider legs!
          Am I done now?
Not quite!
You need to see the Wickedly cool quilt that started it all-pattern chosen by & made for DGS #4-another adapted wall hanging(What is it with my grandchildren and enlarging wall hangings into bed quilts!) that appeared in a  magazine long misplaced from the late 90's or early 00's. Again if you have the magazine, please let me know so I can give proper credit to it and the designer. All I remember is the designer hung it on the entry wall in her Quilting House. How Wicked is that!
This month DGS received the perfect embellishment for this quilt. Gavin did a Wickedly good job earning this embellishment given to Marines for their dress uniforms. Makes me so proud of him, I tear up every time I see this picture of his sword proudly displayed on his bed quilt. Heaven knows the tears I will shed when I see him in his dress uniform complete with embellishments!

 Always Watching!

Thank you for visiting! Tutorials for the spider web block (as I remember it done but no spiders or legs) and 18 rectangle block (drawing given to me by Mama's Quilt Shop. This is a great shop and they have a blog and website. Please visit!) are available by clicking the name or in top bar of blog.
Now that you have seen all my Wicked projects or at least wicked (meaning cool/great) to me, go visit the others on today's schedule.
