I have been a busy bee sewing for Christmas. I gave in to the call of fabric and took home 12 yards of flannel from "J & B Quilting." Several Christmas gifts are cut out but I won't count the fabric as used until the items are completed.
Four vintage/antique sewing machines took up residence in my studio since last Sunday. They were all made before I was born and some before my DH was born- Prime vintage!
1) Gift
The first was gifted to my husband for taking it out of the cabinet. It is a Universal made sometimes between 1906 and 1940. The only ID number we could find places the base as made in 1906 but assembled in Japan.
2 Premier with case
The second was a Premier sewing machine in a blue carry case. It is from the 1940's also made in Japan.
3) 1905 Singer
The third is a Singer made in 1905 which I found at a friend's thrift shop and got for a song and a smile.
The fourth is a treadle machine which I have not been able to find a date for but the manual with the correct shuttle is 1906. Hopefully when it gets cleaned properly I will be able to find out more information on it. It does sew!
4) Treadle
My 2 Babylocks, the Evolution, and the Butterfly are beginning to get a bit crowded.
Oops, I found 2 more in the laundry room hiding. Mmm, I wonder if Santa Stelly is saving those for Christmas. I think it is time for a larger studio or more shelves. How does Bonnie Hunter manage!
Lator Gators! I have lots of sewing to do now.
