I have been helping one of my daughters' old teachers make a memory quilt from her dead daughter's t-shirts. First, I showed her how to interface and cut large squares from the t-shirts. Then, we arranged them on the design wall, took photos, and rearranged them (two days).  Now she is putting the sashing between the blocks. (I think my helping her do all this is funny since she was the Home Ec teacher at the high school my daughters went to. But the sudden killing of her daughter has thrown her for several loops. It seems to be the consuming force of her life. Hopefully, learning to piece will replace it somewhat. She is already planning a Halloween quilt for her grandson.)
My pain came back and it just sucks the energy out of me. I start off great but by the time I mop the house I am done! I spend about 20 minutes working on binding in the studio each day and then I am too tired to continue. Hopefully, another respite will happen. At least it isn't as bad as it was before when I couldn't sleep due to the pain.
Monday, I promised to go to my daughter's school and teach the students how to piece. I cut 40 8.5" by 10" rectangles. They will be making snap bags. That will be an adventure!
Lator Gators! I am off to pull fabrics.

  1. Talk about an adventure! LOL! I am so sorry people have to go through things like your friend is. No reason. I am glad you are helping her with the t-shirts. I hope she can find peace in it.

  2. My prayers to your friend.
Hope you have a good week this week. Sounds like it's all about pacing yourself.

  3. How tragic! It's good of you to help with a memory quilt. Hope it offers her some measure of healing.

Hope you get to feeling better soon.

  4. So sorry the pain has returned. :( But it sounds like you are making the most of it by helping others. She may not realize it now, but the tshirt quilt will help in her grieving, and the kids will enjoy learning to make the snap bag. A life long skill for sure. I hope you have a great week.
