Quite honestly, I hadn't been in the studio all week so I was very surprised by what I found when I went in Saturday.
The rains that keep coming were so strong that they found a way thru the outside wall and the studio roof to the ceiling. It is wet through and through both the wood parts and the sheetrock parts. Both have started getting mold already. The funny part is that it runs from the outside wall to the door in a straight line with the sides unaffected. I think the ceiling has a dip in it.
My dad would say that no good deed went unpunished. My grandpa would tell me that everything happens for a reason mostly to allow for one of God's lessons.
I have decided to approach it using my grandfather's view point.  Good: It is not in the main house. My fabric was not affected just the design wall nearest the outside wall and for some strange reason the office wall. I have a place to move my machines etc. in the den.
Good: I had not yet had the ceiling done in one unified material. It is now a combination of wood and sheetrock. The ceiling will now get replaced with sheetrock. This time it will be finished properly as will the wall etc. My DH has decided to spend the money to make it perfect!
Good: I needed to organize my things again b/c the room was getting messy. Next week I have a 3 day weekend that I can use to move everything out and back into the house so that deconstruction of the ceiling can take place.
Lator Gators! I'm grabbing my sweetheart and making lemonade while hoping the weather gets dryer soon.

  1. Bummer about your ceiling but I admire your positive attitude about it. I hope you can get some insurance help with the repairs. Every little bit helps.

  2. Way to look on the bright side! At least it didn't get your fabric or quilts. Wishing you speedy repairs.
