Lorenzo the chug Update 3

Lorenzo came home Thursday late. Let me tell you, he looked pitiful with his LSU bandage. He didn't want to sit in the back with Sammie, one of his favorite people or in the front with Pape. Oh, no! He had to sit right next to me with his head on my leg while I drove. At least that was where he was until we hit the bumpy section between Breaux Bridge and Lafayette, then he crawled into my arms and I drove with him sleeping on my arms. Every time I put him down he would climb right back in my arms.
When we got home, he perked up. When he saw Lilly and Leeapaul, he became animated and I knew that he will be alright. Since then he and Pape have managed to break every rule the vets gave him. He has been running and jumping and playing. Pape even had him outside today with Ama but "They weren't playing rough!" This is what I heard when I called to check on them.
I had a workshop in Baton Rouge so Pape was in charge of giving Lorenzo his meds today since he is the only one with opposing thumbs but no memory for details; Leeapaul was in charge of making sure Pape stays off his foot with the gout; Lilly was in charge of making sure the 'boys' do what they are suppose to do; and Ama was on her own. I was very happy to see Lorenzo inside and Pape outside with his foot up when I got home this afternoon. (Kristin, GD#1, took charge when she got up.Thank goodness Lilly had help!)
I will show more about my workshop on Sunday or Monday. The front of my thighs were extremely painful when I tried to raise or lower myself thanks to Friday's workout. I even said a bad word in Church! Hopefully it won't hurt as much tomorrow or my trainer's ears will be burning again. God understands - I believe.

Monday we go back to Baton Rouge to take off Lorenzo's bandage and evaluate his progress. I am hoping that all his movement hasn't caused problems but keeping Lorenzo still at home is like keeping a little child still. It ain't happening!
Lator Gators! Well, I am off to take a shower and give out meds - Pape, Lorenzo and  me. May the fabric you desire and need appear in your stash before you need them. Keep 2011 STRESS FREE.

Lorenzo the Chug - Update 2

When the surgeon let us into the room, Lorenzo looked so pitiful with his IV and sleeping on his feet. Then he recognized my voice and face, his tail curled up and he started wagging. I reached in and gave him a hand hug. He gave me a great big kiss on my hand and then just laid on it like he was so glad to see me. He looked so much better than Friday night.
He has on a bright yellow flax jacket to help stabilize his chest and is still in an oxygen cage but he looked like his old self. Lorenzo will have surgery Tuesday morning to repair his ribs (5) and explore how deep the puncture wounds are. The surgeon is  more worried about the puncture wounds b/c Lorenzo had to go thru a ditch to get back to us. But the surgeon kept telling me what a strong little dog Lorenzo was and that he may be home Thursday or Friday if there are no complications.
Here he is sending a kiss to everyone!
Lator Gators! I am going to the gym to work off some of the bad vibs this has given me.

Update on Lorenzo the Chug

I called the hospital at 8:30pm and was told that Lorenzo is stabilized and resting comfortably. Oh, and stealing all the techs hearts. He is still stating his case as usual.

DH went over with Sammie to the neighbor to let them know what had happened and to give them the bills. The wife claimed that they didn't know the dogs were out until her granddaughter reported that she had seen the attack. What happens next depends on what our neighbor does. I want to report these dogs to Animal Control and the Sheriff Department while my DH wants to allow the neighbor to act. Neither of us want the dogs put down...we just want to have the neighborhood safe again for walkers, bikers, and small dogs.
All the dogs are missing Lorenzo especially Ama. She ran around outside looking for him in all the usual places like under the VW and then tried unsuccessfully to play with Leeapaul, Lilly, Lulu, and even Kole.
Finally, she saw a little white dog in the field next door and tore off to go play. I think she was very disappointed when it turned out not to be Lorenzo. (She has learned what the switch means but doesn't 'state' her case like Lorenzo.) Sammie had to console her by holding her like we do Lorenzo and rubbing her belly. Funny sight!
Tomorrow we travel back to BR to find out if Lorenzo has to have surgery for the ribs or if some other treatment is necessary. I really miss that little backtalking mess!

Lorenzo the chug

It is early Sunday morning and Pape and I just got back from the LSU emergency vet center in Baton Rouge. Tonight cost us a month's revenue and is working on the second month. Now I can really say that my vet bills are 5 times higher than my doctor bills even with all the tests we have been having. LOL (Got to find some humor in this situation!)
I came home from the GSQA meeting to find that Lorenzo had been attacked by the dogs from down the block. They have now attacked 3 of my 4 dogs and each time the attack is more vicious than the last. Leeapaul, at 4.5pounds, is the only one they haven't hurt and that would only take one snap.
These dogs come quickly, silently, and before you realize it they are biting and tearing one of my little dogs. Why they come a full block to attack my babies, I don't know! They don't hurt the dogs that live on either side of them...just mine - the only ones that don't weigh as much as the raccoons they are trained to hunt.
Lorenzo has 5 broken ribs, a collapsed lung, and 3 puncture wounds. He went into shock and they hadn't been able to stabilize him when we left at 12midnight. The vet doesn't know if he will make the night but I am betting he will. If he doesn't, then I will be going to war on my neighbor and his dogs.
Pape is blaming himself since he let Lorenzo out in the front yard when I have asked him not to let them out unless he was with them. Pape has a bad habit of not listening to me and thinks that our 4legged children will act for him like they do with me. But when I let them outside, I watch them and never let them get out of my sight. Pape just puts them out and expects them to stay in the front yard just like they do in the fenced back yard or he sits outside and expects them to stay in that area. I think he finally understands why I am so paranoid especially since they attacked Lilly in street in front of my house with me watching.
Well, time for a little rest before we drive back to BR to wait.
