UFO Progress

Lorenzo recovering
Life is beginning to return to normal. Lorenzo is doing exceptionally well and even gaining a bit of weight. DH's gout is easing up. Air conditioner man is coming sometimes today. (Our bedroom and computer room are cool with extra air conditioner. I am very glad that DH didn't put it in DGD#1's room like I had asked.)

Leeapaul is in B R at the LSU Vet School being looked after by Lorenzo's doctors.

July's UFO
I have been falling behind with Judy L's UFO challenge. I am still trying to complete the last 5 months of UFO's. Things have just been so jumbled that sewing time is infrequent and when I do have it, I am working on current projects or lotto blocks or swap blocks. The hurriered I go - the behinder I get.

June

Oh! How I wish Blogger, My Computer, and My Iphone were working together again. My Computer won't recognize my Iphone except to charge it. It is the dickens to get pictures on Facebook and near impossible to get current pictures on Blogger. UGH!
June is known as the month of birthdays. They start on the 1st and end on the 20th and some days have 3. Happy Birthday to my family!
#8 BOM Stars
Judy L. picked #8 as the UFO of the month.  BOM Stars was a history associated with it. My favorite quilt shop closed after 4 months into this BOM. We received all the BOM packets and the finishing packets. But the fun was gone! So it got put on the back burner to be finished at a later time. It will be finished by May of 2012 b/c it is for a graduation quilt, maybe. (I have to finished DGD#2's spider enhanced spiderweb graduation quilt by then too complete with the yo-yo spiders. DGD#2 has collected Halloween fabric ever since she saw the airing of that quilt on Alex Anderson's show. She has quite a bag. LOL)
I haven't finished UFO's that were picked in March (#1 DJ's Graduation Quilt based on Judy Holly's New York Beauty class) or April (#4 Antique Cats to learn how to make "no waste flying geese" in odd sizes) or May (#9 Charlotta Angotti's Mystery #2 from a workshop in Lafayette). I have been working on DJ's graduation quilt (along with lots of other small projects and lots of binding-down to the last one but it has lots of sewing) and am at the point that I am ready to start machine quilting. His quilt wasn't ready for graduation but will be ready when he moves into the dorms for the fall semester.
DJ's Quilt
Now I have decisions! I know that I must work on DJ's quilt and I have a Jodi Barrow workshop & a Krewe of Quilter's workshop in June and a GSQA workshop in July. I also have lots of swaps to complete and the Krotz Springs Quilt show in July. Do I want to work on those or work on those UFO's that I put aside? Ugh!
Last night, May 31st, I had the privelege to watch Joe "Joe the Quilter" Cunningham perform. He gave the lectures at the QGA meeting. He was funny/goofy and his songs were great. He also offered 2 workshops on handquilting - 1 was from 1to5 and today's is from 9 to 5. I didn't take either since Art Ritis has come to live in my hands and hates making tiny stitches  although Joe Cunningham's stitches were even but not tiny and at times quite large (3 or 4 to top inch). He gave me hope of being able to do it again.
Well, time to get cracking. I have to supervise construction of my screen porch; clean the den so that DGD#2 can move in for summer; work on SWAP blocks; work on LOTTO blocks; and work on DJ's quilt. Busy Busy Busy! And I wonder why I get so tired!

Pooped!

The last 3 weeks have been busy and mostly enjoyable but without the internet. First we spent 10 days (March 22 to 31) traveling to Tennessee, Tunica, and back.
Then we came home on Friday, April 1st and took DGD#2, Sammie, and her boyfriend and DGS#9 to eat crawfish. It was an excellent adventure.
Saturday, April 2nd, I attended the QGA's quilt display/show/workshop and let my fellow quilters see Saints Super Star Season for the first time. They gave me a strange look when I told them that the original buyer turned it down at $200. ( I need to get DD#1 and DD#3 to take a good picture of SSSS for me to post!)
Sunday, the 3rd, we had a peaceful day just doing laundry and cleaning camper etc.
Monday, the 4th, we spent still doing laundry and cutting grass. Then we went bowling and managed to win 3 of 4 games.
Tuesday morning, we traveled 130 miles to attend the wake for a friend who passed unexpectedly. It was a very sad event so afterwards I took DH to Boudreaux's & Thibodeaux's restaurant in Houma and read B&T jokes to him. His laugh is so whole hearted that it brings a smile to anyone's face. It made me feel like my friend was there laughing with us and smiling. DH's laugh is my sunshine!
Tuesday afternoon, I packed up my car and drove 100 miles to my DD#1's house in the sticks/swamp. She had spaghetti waiting for me when I arrived at 8:30 pm. She also laid out the plan for my visit - binding binding and more binding. She put me to work right away!
Wednesday, I made Jogger wallets to put in the craft show and bound potholders and small wall hangings.
Thursday, I machine bound 2 quilts for her sale and we went eat at Charlie's. I love their seafood potato...it is so big and comes with a salad. I ate and then Donovan, DGS#7 ate supper on it. Wonderful! After lunch, I worked on binding Saints' Super Star Season until it was finished. Then I machine bound another of Dee's sale quilts and 4 placemats.
Today, before I left DD#1's, I bound 2 more potholders for a grand total of 26+. I then followed the GPS to Cottage Creations in St. Gabriel which was not a wise thing. It took me on roads that could only be traveled at 15 mph b/c they had so many snake curves. There I visited with the owner and bought a ruler I needed for a mystery quilt (I may need a second one) and 3 dies for the Go - the 7 1/2" drunkard's path, the large tumbler, and the hearts that DD#1 wanted. The shop owner looked at a picture of my saint's quilt and recommended that I sell it for nothing less than $1200 since it has all the scores of the games embroidered on it. So that is the price that will be on it when it goes to the craft show tomorrow...if it sells, GREAT and if it doesn't, that's GREAT too since Pape, DH, really wants it for his camper bed.
Tomorrow, I am going to Sew Day at QGA since I have some paper pieced bird houses to finish for Thursday and Linda G's April block. I also promised to demonstrate the Go and how to make potato bags and binding necklaces from toilet paper rolls and ribbon and collapsible trash cans from Kleenex boxes . I need to make a couple of potato bags for my DSD#1.
Sunday, is a day of rest and laundry and hopefully working on DGS #5's graduation quilt which was Judy L's  March UFO #1 and didn't get finished. Before I start April's UFO #4-Cats Antique, I have to finish the graduation quilt and at least 1 charity quilt.
It would seem that I have dug a hole and now need to get busy filling it up. Oh, well, I may be busy but I am not bored. LOL

March UFO

I had to change the numbering on my UFO list b/c my quilter is slowing down. She hasn't even started quilting UFO #10 b/c she is still working on Tanya's Graduation Quilt. I am not really complaining since her work is outstanding and she is custom quilting Tanya's quilt (It looks so great!) but I have to plan ahead since we both need to have Charity quilts ready for April.(Mine will be the Fish quilt.)
#1 was Alexis' Purple Faux Double Wedding Ring and it is a quilt-as-you-go project soooooooo I moved it to Letter e and moved DJ's Graduation Quilt to #1 since it is needed in May and will also need custom quilting. This way DD will have plenty of time to finish Tanya's quilt, one or two of her own, quilt DJs by the end of May, and maybe even finish  #10. I can finish the top for #1 and then work on the two charity quilts, Alexis', and maybe even finish Star Season.
I don't think DD realized what she was getting into when she agreed to do my quilting for me in exchange for the machine. She didn't know I had that many UFOs close to being ready for quilting.
Guess I am going to have to start saving for a HQ 16 for me/her to use.
